Ritman University Matriculation
Ritman is one of the Fastest-Growing Universities - Says Governor Udom Emmanuel
Premier students of Ritman University on Friday 17th June, 2016 performed the institution’s first Matriculation Ceremony, hosted by the first Vice Chancellor, supported by the first set of staff in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
Also on that day was the groundbreaking of an ultramodern 700 million Naira-worth Community Centre Complex by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, while the Governor’s wife - Martha Udom Emmanuel - declared open the university’s female hostel.
The Governor described Ritman as “one of the fastest-growing private universities” and admonished parents to avail their children of quality education in this university rather than send them abroad.
Chairman of Ritman University Board of Trustees, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, charged matriculating students to come up with new ideas and create artifacts with which they could change the world positively. He also admonished them to think critically and become the best that is possible.
The Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Celestine Ntuen in his speech said to students: “I charge you to start now to dream dreams because you are the future for finding many solutions to our society’s daunting problems, such as finding medical tools for curing diseases, providing food security and fighting hunger, discovering alternative energy sources, inventing technology for our national security, and contributing to robust business and industrialization advancement”.
Enumerating achievements of the university since inception, the Vice Chancellor said that on January 26, 2016, Absolute Group, an independent consulting company engaged by National Universities Commission and the Inspector-General of Police assessed Ritman University as a “highly security conscious university.” On December 17, 2015, NTA Channel 12, Uyo, gave an Award of Excellence to Ritman University for community service patronage.
He added that the West African Youth Parliament (with membership from 16 countries) came from their headquarters in Ghana to offer Ritman University an award as Best Private Educational Institution. He also noted that one of his students represented the university at the National Assembly dialogue for students of universities on 9th May, 2016.
Premier students came into the Ritman University campus in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State on 13th November, 2015 and lectures commenced for the first time on 23rd of the same month. They were matriculated into the faculties of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences as well as Natural and applied Sciences.
In attendance at the matriculation ceremony was the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Moses Ekpo, as well as members of Ritman University Board of Trustees and Governing Council which included Pro Chancellor and Chairman of council, Prof Nsongurua Udombana; Senators Helen Esuene and Effiong Bob; former Vice Chancellor of UNIUYO, Prof. Comfort Ekpo; and many other dignitaries.
