Abaebu Heads Ritman University Third Student Government

Mittchell Chiebuka Abaebu, a 300 Level student of Political Science, has been sworn in as the third President of Ritman University’s Student Leadership Team (SLT).

Abaebu won against two other contestants in a keenly contested election held on Friday 19 July 2019. He was sworn in together with other members of the student executive on Wednesday 31 July 2019. Etido Jacob Alex of Accounting department (200 Level) emerged Vice President and Benjamin Samuel Udoh, a third year student of Political Science took office as Secretary.

Vice Chancellor Celestine Ntuen hosted the new President and his cabinet to lunch after swearing in by Barrister Okaba Odama. Ntuen charged the student government to be disciplined, have positive attitude, exhibit high moral standards and live exemplary lives.  He also charged them to propose solutions to difficult problems while also imitating the VC’s participative management approach.

Other members of the third SLT included Glory Clement of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management as Financial Secretary, Emediong Ubong Harrison of Computer Science as Treasurer and Rowland Daniel Friday of Computer Science as Director of Socials. Daniel Johnson Udoette who studies Languages and Literary Studies was sworn in as Director of Sports, while Nsikak-Abasi Rufus Etim of Computer Science came in as Public Relations Officer.

Elections were preceded by manifesto presentations on Wednesday 17 July 2019 in which students strove to outdo each other in stirring up the electorate and winning them over.

Apart from the winners, other contestants included: Ifiok-Obong Akpan John and Inimfon Etim Okoh for President; Benjamin Okure Akpan and Etini David Umoh, Vice President; Sandra Ebiere Dimaro, Secretary; Willie Daniel Paul, and Divine Jacob Ottong, Financial Secretary; Edueps Ekereobong Victor, Director of Socials. Contestants for Treasurer, Director of Sports and Public Relations Officer were elected unopposed.
