Ritman University warmly welcomes Professor Akan B. Williams as our new Vice Chancellor. Professor Williams brings a wealth of experience and an outstanding academic record to our institution.
Born in Calabar, Cross River State, he holds a B.Sc in Chemistry from University of Calabar, an M.Sc in Petroleum Chemistry from University of Port Harcourt, and a Ph.D in Environmental Chemistry from Covenant University.
With over 23 years of academic service, including being a full Professor of Chemistry since 2018, Professor Williams specializes in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry. He has held key leadership roles such as Director of Central Instrumentation Research Facility, former Dean of Postgraduate Studies, and former Acting Vice-Chancellor at Covenant University.
His research and academic contributions are globally recognized with more than 110 published articles, numerous certifications, and active involvement in education quality assurance.
Beyond academia, Professor Williams has also demonstrated strong community leadership, having served in local government and church leadership roles. He is married with two sons and committed to excellence in education and service.
