Ritman University Hosts Seminar on Modern Techniques in Biomedical Research

Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, successfully hosted a high-impact academic seminar last month, as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting research excellence and global academic exposure.

The seminar, titled “Modern Techniques in Biomedical Research: From Bench to Patient Care,” took place at the College Auditorium, Ritman University, and attracted students, academic staff, non-academic staff, and members of the wider university community.

The highlight of the event was a scholarly presentation by Obaalologhi Wilfred, MRes, of the Vascular Biology Center, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, USA. He delivered an insightful lecture on “Mending the Broken Heart: The Role of Post-Translational Modification in Cardiac Development,” where he explored cutting-edge biomedical research techniques and the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac development.

Participants were exposed to contemporary research methodologies that bridge laboratory discoveries with patient care, reinforcing the relevance of biomedical research in addressing real-world health challenges. The seminar also featured interactive sessions, which provided attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with the guest speaker, ask questions, and exchange ideas.

In addition, valuable information on postgraduate scholarship opportunities at the Master’s and PhD levels was shared, further motivating students to pursue advanced research training and international academic collaborations.

Students from Natural and Applied Sciences, Allied Health, and related disciplines actively participated in the seminar, while staff members also played a significant role in enriching discussions and knowledge exchange. The event was widely commended for its intellectual depth and relevance.

The successful hosting of the seminar reaffirmed Ritman University’s dedication to advancing scientific research, fostering interdisciplinary learning, and strengthening its position within the global academic community.
