ICAN President Visits Ritman University; Pays Homage to Ikot Ekpene’s Paramount Ruler

As part of his visit to Ikot Ekpene, ICAN’s 60th President, Chief Davidson Chizuoke Stephen Alaribe, FCA, visited Ritman University, accompanied by Uyo District Chairman Edidem Utuk and Ikot Ekpene & District Society Chairman Festus Akpan Etukudoh, FCA. They were warmly received by the university’s leadership, including Founder Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, FNSE.

Discussions focused on ICAN’s Catch Them Young initiative, which introduces young Nigerians to accounting. Chief Alaribe outlined how students with five credits in WAEC or GCE (including Mathematics and English) could enrol in the ATSWA programme to build a strong foundation in accounting. He urged students to seize this opportunity rather than remain idle.

Senator Essien pledged Ritman University’s partnership with ICAN to support two key programmes:

The Student Initiative – Helping university students enrol in ICAN professional exams.

Catch Them Young – Providing an alternative pathway for students to qualify as Accounting Technicians and start their careers.

Chief Alaribe also paid homage to HRH Akuku Okon Udo Ukut, Paramount Ruler of Ikot Ekpene, appreciating his support for accountants and youth development. The monarch praised ICAN’s efforts in financial literacy and pledged continued support.

The visit reaffirmed ICAN’s commitment to broadening access to accounting education and deepening collaborations with educational and traditional institutions.
