Ritman University joined the academic and leadership community of Akwa Ibom State yesterday at the appreciation ceremony held in honour of the outgoing Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Professor Samuel G. Odewumi, and the inauguration of the institution’s incoming 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher N. Ekong. The event took place at the 1000-Seater TETFund Auditorium, University of Uyo.
Representing Ritman University at the high-profile academic gathering were the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akan B. Williams and the Registrar, Deaconess Faith E. Emmanuel, and other Officers. Professor Christopher Ekong officially assumed office as the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo following his appointment by the Governing Council after a selection process described as rigorous and transparent. His appointment took effect on 16 June 2026.
The inauguration ceremony also provided an opportunity to appreciate the contributions of Professor Samuel Odewumi, whose stewardship as Acting Vice-Chancellor was acknowledged for sustaining administrative continuity and supporting the university’s ongoing development during the transition period.
