Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene, on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, received the leadership of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Campus Monitoring Committee (CMC), Akwa Ibom State Axis, during an official campus tour aimed at fostering unity, strengthening collaboration among student bodies, and engaging student leaders on matters affecting students across the state.
The visit formed part of the association’s statewide institutional engagement initiative designed to foster stronger relationships between student bodies and university managements, while also addressing critical matters relating to student welfare, leadership development, academic growth, and peaceful coexistence within campuses.
The NAUS delegation, led by by the Chairperson of NAUS CMC, Comr. Nene Essien, was formally received by the Vice-Chancellor of Ritman University alongside the Registrar of the University. Also present at the meeting were members of the University’s Students’ Leadership Team and student parliamentarians, who participated actively in discussions centered on student welfare, leadership, academic excellence, and institutional development.
Speaking during the engagement, the leadership of NAUS commended Ritman University for maintaining a peaceful academic environment and for promoting effective communication between the University Management and the student community. The delegation noted that institutions that prioritize dialogue, inclusiveness, and student participation in governance contribute significantly to academic stability and institutional growth.
The NAUS representatives further emphasized the importance of responsible student leadership, mutual respect, and collaboration among stakeholders in the education sector. According to the delegation, student leaders across universities have a crucial role to play in promoting peace, protecting the interests of students, and supporting initiatives that contribute positively to the advancement of higher education in Nigeria.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Ritman University warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation to the association for including the institution in its statewide campus tour. He reiterated the University’s commitment to academic excellence, character development, innovation, and responsible leadership.
The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted the importance of constructive engagements between students and institutional authorities, stressing that open communication remains essential in achieving sustainable academic progress and maintaining harmony within the University community. He encouraged the student leaders present to continue to demonstrate integrity, discipline, and commitment in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The Registrar of the University, Deaconess Faith E. Emmanuel, also commended the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards enhancing collaboration and mutual understanding between student associations and university authorities. She encouraged the student leaders present to continue to uphold responsible leadership and serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution.
Members of the Ritman University Students’ Leadership Team and parliamentarians expressed delight over the visit, noting that the interaction provided an avenue for meaningful conversations on student representation, welfare, and leadership development. They also appreciated the University Management for continuously creating opportunities for students to engage with relevant stakeholders.
The visit further highlighted Ritman University’s growing reputation as an institution that encourages inclusiveness, open communication, and active student participation in governance and campus activities. The atmosphere throughout the engagement was cordial and productive, reflecting the University’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships with students and external educational bodies.
At the conclusion of the visit, both the NAUS delegation and the University community expressed optimism about future collaborations that would contribute positively to the advancement of higher education and student development in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
The visit ended with interactive sessions and commemorative photographs between the NAUS officials, University Management, and student representatives.
